Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the era of using atomic bombs is over, lashing out at Western powers for possessing nuclear weapons, Press TV reported.
"The United States launched wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but did not use atomic bombs because the era of using nuclear bombs has come to an end," President Ahmadinejad was quoted by IRIB as saying at a conference in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Sunday.
The Iranian chief executive hit out at the West for possessing nukes saying, "You have a thousand A-bombs, [so] how is it that you are worried that Iran might be able to develop atomic bombs in three years' time?"
The Iranian president then turned to the crisis gripping the West.
"Some [people] thought that Western countries have a special status, but we saw what happened following the economic crisis."
Elsewhere in his remarks, President Ahmadinejad condemned the terror attacks on two Iranian scientists in Tehran a week ago which killed one of them and wounded the other.
"Americans are worse than the most dictatorial dictators. They assassinate nuclear scientists because they are not strong enough to counter the Iranian nation, and think a nation will step back with the assassination of its loved ones," he went on to say.
The Iranian president then underlined that the Islamic Republic is always making headlines across the globe, adding world media attach great importance to Iran's developments.
"The reason is that they have come to understand if the Iranian nation is given the chance, it will rapidly change all equations in favor of global prosperity," he noted.
President Ahmadinejad also touched upon the costly US-led invasion of Iraq and the growing insecurity in the war-ravaged country. The president said the Iraq war has left one million people killed and four million homeless.
"And every day we are seeing a bomb blast in Iraq," he further explained.
"The Iraqi people's wealth was looted, and oil, which is their national heritage, was taken out of their country," he stated.
According to the Iranian chief executive, the important mission today is to get the message of the Iranian nation heard across the world.
