Iran, Iraq ink MoU to aid pilgrims

The Red Crescent Societies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve services to the pilgrims of the two nations, Press TV reported.

The two countries signed the MoU in Iraq on Monday in a move to promote health and medical services to Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims.

"This is the first memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and Iraq's Red Crescent societies and the fact that Iraq's health minister has signed the agreement guarantees the implementation of the MoU," the head of Iranian Red Crescent Society Abdolhassan Faqih told Press TV.

Iraq's Health Minister Majid Muhammad Amin endorsed the MoU and expressed hope to use Iran's experiences in medical care sector.

Over a thousand Iranian pilgrims enter Iraq every day to visit holy shrines in the cities of Najaf and Karbala.
