An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook Mohammadabad and its outskirts in Rigan region of the southeastern province of Kerman on Saturday.

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook Mohammadabad and its outskirts in Rigan region of the southeastern province of Kerman on Saturday, IRNA reported.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the tremor at 8:13 hours local time (0443 GMT).

The last quake was epicentered in an area located at 28.33 degrees in latitude and in 59.2 longitude.

Meanwhile, a 5.3-strong quake hit the area on Friday morning.

There is no immediate reports on any damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines
