Iran is to send "Mesbah1" satellite into space by 2013, said the Head of Aerospace Industries of Iran's Electronic Industries Asghar Ebrahimi, ISNA reported.
"Mesbah1" satellite jointly built by Iran and a foreign company faced a problem at the time of launch. Its mission is to collect data on weather, environment and ground stations," he said on Monday.
"Mesbah1" with the lifespan of 3-5 years weighs 63.5 kg and is to be launched into space by 2013," Ebrahimi continued.
It will be launched by a domestically-made (probably Simorgh) missile carrier, he said adding Iran is to send Explorer 4 into space with a bio life.
Iran sent Explorer 3 into space which carried mice, two turtles, worms and human's cells.
Iran is going to send Sepehr (Sky) satellite into orbit by Simorgh satellite carrier. The satellite carrier is able to carry satellites which weigh over 80 kg.
