Iranian parliament to review govt. violations
Head of Parliament Article 90 Commission Mohammad Ebrahim Nekounam pointed to 18 violations by President Ahmadinejad including, not providing Tehran's Municipality with budget for metro, not preparing the Oil Ministry's article of association and not announcing the establishment of the ministry of sports and youth.
Nekounam said that Ahmadinejad must answer questions about his constitutional violations.
On May 17, a number of lawmakers lodged a complaint against President Ahmadinejad for violating the constitution.
On February 28, a number of lawmakers submitted a complaint to the Parliament Presiding Board against the government of President Ahmadinejad for its refraining from implementing the Iranian Constitution - the matter was subsequently referred to the Article 90 Commission.
The Article 90 Commission of the Parliament is tasked with the execution Article 90 of the Iranian Constitution.
Article 90 of the Constitution reads, "Anyone who has a complaint about the Parliament, the executive branch or the Judiciary [of the Islamic Republic] may lodge a formal complaint with the Parliament. The Parliament is tasked with reviewing the complaints and providing sufficient responses..."
