Iran's CNG consumption increases by 64 percent

Removing subsidies on energy has led to reduction in the gasoline consumption, but the CNG consumption in Iran has increased by 64 percent, SHANA reported quoting National Iranian Oil Production Distribution Company.

The statistics indicate the CNG consumption in the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2011) grew by 100 percent.

Iran's average CNG consumption last year increased to 5.543 billion cubic meters while the consumption in October reached 548 million cubic meters with 86 percent growth.

In the first two months of the current Iranian year, the CNG consumption reached 987 million cubic meters which indicate 20 percent growth as compared to the same period of the last year.

The CNG consumption is predicted to increase by the end of the year with more than 20 percent growth.
