Iran is ready to assist the United Nations and to dispatch peacemaking forces to conflict zones, Commander of the Army's Ground Forces Brigadier-General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

Pourdastan noted that the peacemaking forces, which are subordinate to the Army's Ground Forces, will be dispatched to the disputed regions as soon as the UN requires.

Iran obtains advanced military equipment and weapons, and maintains a high level of combat readiness to sustain and enhance peace in these regions, he added.

Pourdastan further said the well-trained and skilled Iranian peacemakers speak English, Arab and French languages.

The Army's Ground Forces sent a request to the Foreign Ministry to examine this issue, he added.

"We hope that Iranian peacemakers will participate in the UN's missions in the nearest future," Pourdastan underscored.
