Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said NATO killed Moammar Gaddafi like Osama bin Laden, ISNA reported.

"They killed him to prevent lawsuits against Gaddafi, because Gaddafi would say he has ruled the country by the West countries' support," Ahmadinejad said.

He condemned NATO's interference in Lybia, calling Libyans to fight against NATO and the West forces.

"We expected Libyans themselves to take up their country's government and protest against those who want to split Libya and interfere in Libyan people's fate," he underscored.

Libya's ex-leader Moamer Gaddafi and his son Moutassem were murdered on Oct. 20 during the NATO's bombing attacks on a convey of cars fleeing from Sirte.

On Monday, National Council's chief Mustafa Abdul Jalil announced that the transitional leadership will investigate Gaddafi's death, after issuing contradictory reports on how the leader died.

The al-Qaeda's chief Osama bin Laden was killed by the US Navy Seals in a covert raid May 2 in the garrison town of Abbottabad, 61 kilometres from capital Islamabad, where he reportedly had lived for five years.
