Acting chief commander of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said that the Americans are not in a position to allow or prevent Islamic Republic of Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz, IRNA reported.
Brigadier General Salami made the remarks in response to recent statements of the commander of the US Fifth Fleet in the Persian Gulf in Tehran on Thursday.
"The history of US hostilities against Iran clearly reflects that," he added.
Brigadier General Salami said that if Iran's crucial interests are threatened in any way, Iran will also resort to threats and the Islamic Republic of Iran will not relinquish its strategies.
Referring to the fact that Iran does not take orders from any country for implementing its defense strategies, he recalled that the Islamic Republic of Iran throughout past 33 years has always achieved its objectives despite the US interfering policies.
"Islamic Republic of Iran is more determined than any other time before for implementing its defense strategies," Salami added.
Referring to holding the Sea Military Drill titled Velayat-90 in the Sea of Oman and Indian Ocean, he pointed out that the Iranian Navy manifested the strength and advancements of Iran's armed forces.
