Iran's petrol production has grown from 40 million to 55 million litres per day and will grow to 70 million in a year, Shana news reported.

In addition to increasing its petrol production capacity, Iran has worked to produce higher quality petrol.

Starting on Thursday, January 19, petrol and diesel fuel meeting Euro 4 standards will be available at 36 gas stations in Tehran, said Alireza Zeyghami managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC).

This is the experimental phase of the project and Euro 4 petrol will be sold throughout Iran next year (Iran's solar year ends in March).

NIORDC has spent about $13 billion to improve its production quality with $2.3 billion allocated to petrol production and the remainder going to refinery optimisation, said Zeyghami.
