West should take practical steps at Moscow talks: Larijani

Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that world powers should take practical steps to help resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program during the next round of talks, which is scheduled to be held in Moscow on Monday and Tuesday, Mehr reported.

Iran hopes that the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) will properly use the opportunity, Larijani told ISNA in Qom.

U.S., other Western countries, and Israel suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program. Iran has persistently stated that its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes, but some Western powers suspect Iran is trying to cover up nuclear tests there.

A number of states and international organizations, including the United Nations, adopted sanctions against Iran demanding from the Islamic republic to ensure full transparency of its nuclear program and to prove that it is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

Six world powers have sought since 2003 in cooperation with the IAEA Iran's suspension of uranium enrichment, which can pose a threat to the nuclear non-proliferation.

Previous rounds were held in Istanbul and Baghdad.
