Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi arrived in Turkmenistan today, for scheduled meetings with country's officials, IRIB News reported.

Qasemi should be meeting with country's president Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and Foreign Minister Rasheed Meredov.

Qhasemi said about a week ago that once all the phases of South Pars gas field come on stream, Iran will no longer need to import gas, adding that phases 15 and 16 of South Pars will come on stream by March 2013. He went on to note that Iran has no difficulty fuelling up its northern and north-eastern power plants.

Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Jawad Owji said recently that imports of gas from Turkmenistan will be increased in the near future tp 40 million cubic meters per day.

"About six months ago, Iran was receiving some 4-5 million cubic meters of gas per day from Turkmenistan, and this figure will be increased to 40 million cubic meters per day soon," Owji said.

Owji is part of the Iranian delegation headed by country's Oil Minister Rostam Qhasemi, that arrived in Turkmenistan earlier.
