Iranian police seize smuggled sexual stimulant medicine

Iran police have seized some $3.227 million worth of smuggled medicine into country during first four months of the current solar year (which started on March 21), commander of Police Department for Campaign against Smuggling of Goods and Foreign Currency, Fathollah Zamanian said, Mehr news agency reported.

He also went on to note that, seized medicines mainly include abortion, sexual stimulant (aphrodisiac) and ergogenic drugs.

Some 390 medicine smugglers were arrested during first four months of the current solar year, Zamanian said.

Iran has imported 16,000 tons of drugs worth $1.468 billion, during the last solar year (which ended on March 21).

Drug imports ranked tenth on Iran's last year imported goods list.

During the first month of the current solar year, drug imports reached $34.3 million. Iran currently is the world's biggest drug importer.

The decrease in the medicine imports took place, while there was no decrease at the domestic market.
