Iran is currently in such situation that it cannot get directly involved in Syrian conflict, Iranian expert on international issues and Arabic countries, Hassan Hanizadeh told Trend.

The expert was commenting on the current developments in Syria, where the fight between the government forces and the opposition continues.

Iran thus far, has expressed moral support for the Syrian government, without getting involved directly in the conflict, as the country deals with increasing international pressure, imposed sanctions and domestic problems as well.

Iranian officials have strongly condemned chemical attack in Syria and called for the completion of the ongoing UN inspection into the issue.

"After the government forces of Syria managed to push the opposition forces from Aleppo, Homs and Daraa, it shows a major loss for the opposition forces," Hanizadeh said. "After this devastating loss, the opposition claimed the government used chemical weapons against civilians."

The expert further said that the U.S., under the cover of protecting the Syrian people, has everything ready to invade Syria.

"The U.S. has cruise and tomahawk missiles ready, which they target to Syrian military bases. They're waiting for the order from president Barack Obama," Hanizadeh noted.

The expert further said that the U.S. attack on Syria would allow the opposition forces in the country to overthrow Assad's regime.

At the same time, the expert noted that within a year around 600,000 civilians have geared up to help the government forces.

"Syrian army is strong, it wouldn't be easy to overthrow the country' government," Hanizadeh said.

Speaking about the U.S. involvement, Hanizadeh said that if the U.S. decides to invade Syria, the latter can in turn attack Israeli nuclear sites.

"Syria has enough of missile power to launch such an attack, and if it happens - it would be a total catastrophe for the region," Hanizadeh said.
