International Gas Union meeting opens in Tehran

The first meeting of the Working Committee 2 (WOC 2) of the International Gas Union (IGU) opened today in Tehran, IRNA reported.

Representatives from over 20 member states including Italy, France, Poland, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and South Korea have attended the four day meeting. The event is held biannually in the member states.

The WOC 2 is tasked with providing key information regarding underground gas storage facilities to both its members and decision-makers.

The IGU is a global association aimed at promoting the technical and economic progress of the gas industry. It was founded in 1931. It is registered in Vevey, Switzerland and its secretariat is located in Oslo, Norway. The IGU has 82 full and 39 associated members in 82 countries.

IGU's working organisation covers all aspects of the gas industry including exploration and production, storage, LNG, distribution and natural gas utilisation in all market segments. IGU promotes technical and economic progress of the gas industry emphasising environmental performance worldwide.
