Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned against possible sectarian strife inside the Muslim world.
Ayatollah Khamenei said arrogant powers have long been exacerbating divisions between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
He made the remarks at a meeting with Iran's hajj officials.
"Muslims should use the annual hajj pilgrimage to foster unity in the Islamic world," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei went on to note that if the enemies of Islam manage to institutionalize confrontations between Shias and Sunnis, they will start to play followers of the same sect off against each other.
