Iran will keep working with Europe to put into effect a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for international trade with Tehran under the 2015 nuclear deal, but won’t stand by waiting for the EU, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, Trend reports via Tasnim.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with India’s minister of road, transport and highways, Zarif said Iran will keep working in cooperation with Europeans on the SPV - a financial mechanism devised by the EU to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) - continue trade with Iran and neutralize the US sanctions against Tehran.

However, Tehran won’t wait for the Europeans, but will work with its traditional partners, like India, China and Russia in order to fulfill the interests of Iranians, he noted.

He added that Iran will enhance cooperation with its trade partners through various channels.

The Iranian foreign minister also pointed to his negotiations with the Indian official on economic cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi, saying the two countries have launched cooperation in various fields, as in the development of the Iranian port city of Chabahar.

Pointing to the interaction between the Iranian and Indian banks, Zarif expressed hope that Tehran and New Delhi would broaden ties despite the US sanctions.

Heading a diplomatic and economic delegation, Zarif arrived in India on Jan. 7 evening for a three-day visit.
