Rouhani predicts economic growth for Iran

Iran is witnessing economic growth, and despite sanctions, the country should remain connected to the world, said President Hassan Rouhani.

"We have tried to have good economic approach despite sanctions and unlike last Iranian year [started March 21, 2018] that we had negative economic growth, the first two months of current year have shown there would be economic growth," he said during inauguration of Salam Terminal in Imam Khomeini International Airport, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"The transit is considered part of economic power so we can transport foreign goods via roads, airports and ports. It creates many jobs, in maritime route our ports have good capacities to connect to other countries.", he added.

"The aviation industry and airport service should expand to improve economy.The inauguration of Salam Terminal would mean expansion of aviation industry.", he said.

"Tourism is another agenda for the government to improve economy and increase domestic and foreign visitors," he noted.

"Today we need a jump toward development despite sanctions; our airlines are constantly flying. We should use all the aviation sectors in the country despite sanctions," Rouhani indicated. "One of government efforts is to improve aviation industry. After nuclear deal we created an agreement to buy new planes for the country each ten years for people."

Rouhani noted important plans are schedule to be inaugurated by the end of current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019).

"The Ministry of Road and Urban Development is to deliver 400,000 houses and invited all private sectors and investors to join in," he said.

"The launch of Tehran Rasht railway has directly effects reducing fuel consumption and passengers were content with the route. It is expected that Tehran–Rasht railway will connects to Astara,." the president noted.

He emphasized that new roads and rail routes are to laid to improve economy and save fuel.
