The Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade called for activating trade with 15 neighboring countries at a coordinating meeting on his trip to Pakistan.

"In order to establish proper trade with neighboring countries, it is necessary to study accurately their needs,” the Minister Reza Rahmani said, Trend reports.

Referring to his recent meeting with the Pakistani Ambassador to Iran to discuss prospects of bilateral trade, he said, "Many of Iran's manufactured goods have customers in the neighboring countries, so we need to take further measures to find more markets for these products."

"More than 54 percent of Iran's total non-oil exports are sent to neighboring countries,” he said. “We can easily increase our exports to these countries."

Referring to his coming trip to Pakistan to increase trade and economic relations between the two countries, the Minister noted that the increase of Iran-Pakistan economic exchange, which is currently estimated at more than $1.3 billion, could be a good example of cooperation and development of Iran's trade relations with other countries.

Rahmani went on to address the importance of paying attention to the border provinces to increase the exports. "Necessary powers will be granted to the authorities and private sector of the border provinces,” he said.

"The main route for the development of the country`s trade is strengthening the private sector,” he said. “We must invest more to utilize the potential of this sector."
