BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. The value of agricultural products grown in East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran increased by 33 percent (from September 23, 2022, through September 22, 2023) compared to the previous period (from September 23, 2021, through September 22, 2022), Director of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Agriculture Department Akbar Fathi said, Trend reports.
According to him, during the mentioned period, the value of agricultural products grown in East Azerbaijan Province amounted to 1.05 quadrillion rials (about $25 billion).
Fathi noted that during the specified period, production in the agricultural sector of the province amounted to 550 trillion rials (about $13.1 billion) in livestock, 475 trillion rials (about $11.3 billion) in agriculture, and 25 trillion rials (about $595 million) in fisheries.
To note, Iran grows an average of more than 130 million tons of agricultural products annually.
