BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. More than 1.35 million (1,353,786) mobile phones worth about $341 million were imported to Iran during two months of the current Iranian year (from 20 March through 20 May 2024), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
During 2 months, imports of mobile phones in value terms increased by 3 percent, while in quantitative terms, imports decreased by19 percent compared to the same period last year
A total of 1.29 million (1,291,786) mobile phones were imported for commercial purposes, while 62,000 mobile phones were imported by citizens in the past two months.
About 14.7 million (14,688,580) mobile phones worth $3.2 billion were imported to Iran in the last Iranian year (from 21, 2023, through March 2023 through 19, 2024). Compared to the previous year (from 21, 2022, through March 2022 through 20, 2023), Iran's mobile phone imports decreased by 0.6 percent in value terms and increased by 0.7 percent in quantity terms.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on the importation of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured in the country.
