Non-oil exports of Iran's Golestan Province increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. The export of non-oil products from Golestan Province, located in northeastern Iran, increased by 68 percent in value terms and 42 percent in weight terms in the first 2 months of the current Iranian year (from 20 March through 20 May 2024) compared to the same period last year (from 21 March through 21 May 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.

According to him, during 2 months, 107,000 tonnes of non-oil products worth $69.6 million were exported from Golestan Province.

Shahriar noted that non-oil products from the region were exported to 18 countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and other countries.

The official added that $21 million worth of non-oil products were exported mainly to Kazakhstan and about $19.8 million to Turkmenistan.

Shahriari stated that the main exported goods are pistachios, polyethylene, polystyrene, cheese, fish feed, eggs, profiles, iodine, apples, and others.

To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's non-oil exports amounted to 9.7 million tonnes worth $3.17 billion in the first month of the current Iranian year. Iran's exports of non-oil products decreased by 16.9 percent in value terms and 9.66 percent in weight terms in the first month compared to the same month of last year.
