BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Iran is working to increase its trade turnover with Caspian littoral countries, the country’s Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Seyyed Mohammad Atabak told local media, Trend reports.
Atabak mentioned that discussions had been held with officials from member countries of the Caspian Economic Forum regarding the creation of joint industrial and technology parks. Working groups have been established to enhance trade and economic relations.
Atabak also added that a system has been established for banking exchanges between Iran and Russia. It is expected that similar connections will be made with other Caspian littoral countries shortly.
To note, the 3rd Caspian Economic Forum, convened among the riparian states, has officially commenced in Tehran, Iran, today and will last for two days.
Additionally, trade turnover between Iran and Caspian littoral countries over the past ten months of the current Iranian year reached around $3.4 billion. During this period, Iran exported products worth about $2.15 billion to Caspian littoral countries and imported goods worth $1.25 billion from them.
