(Dawn.com Pakistan) - A four-day joint working group meeting between Pakistan and Iran will commence on Wednesday to discuss security and visa-related issues, a senior official of interior ministry said on Tuesday.
The source said a nine-member team of Pakistans interior ministry, headed by Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah, left for Tehran on Tuesday.
Others delegates included Balochistans Home Secretary Humayun Qureshi, director-general of the National Crisis Management Cell Brig Javed Iqbal Cheema, director-general of the Federal Investigation Agency Tariq Pervez, Deputy Inspector-General of the Frontier Corps Brig Farrukh Bashir, Deputy Secretary Interior Javed Habib and NCMCs director Maj Saqib.
The source said the two side would discuss human trafficking and chalk out a joint strategy to tackle the problem, reports Trend.
Before leaving to Iran, secretary interior said 99 per cent of human trafficking from Pakistan occurred via land route between the two countries.
Recently the government has announced a new policy for intending Zaireen from Pakistan, the source said.
Under the new policy, people would have to obtain a No Objection Certificate from the ministry of interior and the ministry of religious affairs to travel to Iran and provide personal guarantees about their return.
The sources said that Pakistan and Iran would also discussed the situation arising after the indiscriminate Israeli bomings on Lebanon.
The government has also imposed a ban on travel to Lebanon from Pakistan. The sources the JWG will also discuss the issue of release of prisoners on reciprocal basis and their visa policies.
The source said Iran was ready to grant dual nationality to Pakistanis marrying Irani women but had asked Pakistan not to grant Irani nationals the same facility.
