Turkey and Saudi Arabia Sign 6 Deals

(Zaman) - Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz arrived in Ankara yesterday as part of a crucial visit initiated by Turkey to attract Arab investors to the country.

At the invitation of Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, King Abdullah, accompanied by a delegate of 300 officials and businessmen, landed at Ankaras Esenboga Airport on the first visit by a Saudi monarch in 40 years, reports Trend.

The King was greeted by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul.

Sezer later held an official welcoming ceremony for the King at the Cankaya Presidential Palace, where he stressed that Turkey sees Saudi Arabia a stable partner.

The visit is being viewed as the opening of a new phase in Turkish-Saudi relations, and the delegations from both sides have signed six deals.

The deals include: agreements regarding political advisers, cooperation between state achieves, mutual promotion and protection of investments, taxation coordination to prevent a doubling up, cooperation on health issues, and the regulation of passenger and goods transportation by land.
