(IRNA) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here Tuesday afternoon said Washington's efforts to further isolate the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region will be futile as they have been in the past, reports Trend.

Addressing high-ranking officials of the three branches of government, the Supreme Leader said the US is putting pressure on regional states to support issues it is manufacturing against the Islamic Republic of Iran. But, as in the past, Washington's efforts will bear no fruit," the Supreme Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei further warned regional governments and political activists against western mischief and negative propaganda to distort Iran's image abroad.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has become a power to reckon with since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he said, adding that this fact has become more evident in recent years.

The power of the Islamic Republic system is derived from Islamic principles and Iranian public opinion, he added, stressing that its authority and power should not be a threat to any regional government or nation since the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in justice and will not sanction oppression or the use of violence.
