China calls for agro, fisheries cooperation with Iran

(IRNA) - Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Liu Zhentang here Tuesday called for expansion of agricultural and fisheries cooperation with Iran.

During a meeting with Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Iran chief Ali-Asghar Tofiq, Liu said China is currently carrying out various projects in Iran in the fields of transportation, dam construction, telecommunications and power plants.

He expressed hope the sides would do more to bolster their bilateral cooperation in all areas, reports Trend.

Referring to the high level of trade exchanges between Tehran and Beijing, he called for greater cooperation between the two countries' quality control institutions in the interest of promoting their mutual trade in commodities.

The ambassador also took the occasion to urge Iranian businessmen to import more Chinese-made commodities.

Tofiq, for his part, welcomed the growing trade ties between the two countries and said his institute would use its utmost to exchange information, including on quality control, and knowhow on goods traded by the two countries.

He said that Iranian consumers attached great importance to quality in their choice of goods.

He said exchange of visits by the two countries' experts would greatly contribute to expansion of mutual trade ties.
