(ZAMAN) - Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's vital functions are stable. There is no need to worry. His blood sugar level fell due his fast and to extreme tiredness," Tevfik Ali Kucukbas, deputy head doctor at Ankara's Guven Hospital, told reporters outside.

Erdogan reportedly arrived at the hospital slightly unconscious and was seen by a cardiologist. Doctors at the hospital and top AKP officials rushing to the hospital underlined that there was no need to worry about the PM's health condition.

Erdogan had arrived at the Turkish parliament to address members of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in a group meeting, which was then cancelled due to his ailment, reports Trend.

Doctors might request that he stay in hospital for a couple of hours, or days if necessary, the deputy chief doctor stated.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said Erdogan's sudden illness was caused by a combination of intense work and fasting for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Ministers and AKP deputies rushed to Guven hospital following the PM since the group meeting in parliament was canceled.

Deputy PM Abdullatif Sener told reporters that Erdogan could be discharged later in the day after doctors conduct the necessary examinations in the evening.

The 52-year old Erdogan visited the United States, Britain and Saudi Arabia earlier in October.
