Iranian, Omani foreign ministers review bilateral ties, regional developments

(IRNA) - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Omani counterpart, Youssef bin Alawi, Friday reviewed Tehran-Muscat bilateral ties and latest regional developments.

Commenting on the critical situation in Iraq, Mottaki underscored the need to support the Iraqi government and back efforts to restore peace and tranquility to the war-torn country.

As to latest developments in Lebanon, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that the continuing problems of the country should be solved by the Lebanese people themselves and any decision they take should be respected.

On the wider, regional front, the Iranian foreign minister called for security cooperation among regional states, reports Trend.

The Omani foreign minister, for his part, called for further expansion of Iran-Oman bilateral cooperation in all fields.

He also called on Islamic states to cooperate on ways to defuse the tense situation in Iraq as well as in Lebanon.
