Pakistan prime minister makes brief stopover in Istanbul

(Cihan) - Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz made a brief stopover at Istanbul Ataturk Airport on Wednesday on his way to Davos, Switzerland to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum meetings.

The military aircraft carrying Pakistan premier and the accompanying delegation landed at the airport at 11.30 a.m. Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler and other officials welcomed Aziz at the airport, reports Trend.

Aziz and Guler went into the State Guesthouse and had a brief brunch. They also exchanged views of mutual interest and discussed historic ties cherished by Turkey and Pakistan.

His plane was also refueled and Aziz headed to Switzerland after he spent an hour in Istanbul.

Shaukat Aziz leads the Pakistani delegation in the Davos forum, which is being held from January 24 to 28.
