Quake hits southern Iran

( Irna ) - An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted the city of Kazeroun in the southern province of Fars Wednesday.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered at 03:38 hours local time (0008 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was in an area measuring 51.55 degrees in longitude and 29.68 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
