Iran exported 23 million barrels of crude oil, worth $2.3 billion, from Siri Island, located in the Persian Gulf in the past Iranian calendar year (begins on March 21).

Reza Haqiqi, the director of Siri Oil Region Operating Company, said oil refineries on the Siri Island have the capacity to refine 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day, but their output is currently about 68,000 bpd, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on September 13.

Crude oil is extracted from five oilfields, namely Alvand, Nosrat, Dena, Sivand, and Ilam.

The Iranian Offshore Oil Company has undertaken several major oil and gas development projects on the island including a $500 million NGL Gas factory and a development contract to develop and increase production of the Nosrat oilfield which is projected to increase crude oil production capacity from 5,000 barrels to 16,000 barrels per day.

Another project is planned for the renovation of crude oil export facilities and construction of two large crude oil reservoir tanks, each with 500,000 barrels capacity.
