Iran plans to distribute another food package to low-income families by the end of the current Iranian calendar month (January 20).

Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiee said Jan. 5 that this will be the third package to be distributed this [Iranian calendar] year, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported.

"The fourth package will be distributed in the last calendar month of current year (to end March 20)," he said.

"If more money is provided in the budget, we can cover a larger percentage of Iran's total population for the forth package," the minister added.

Iranian government started distributing packages of food staples to low-income families last February, with a direct order from President Hassan Rouhani.

The packages include meat, chicken, rice, tea, and cooking oil.
