Fuel oil sold on Iran ’s energy bourse for first time

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Fuel oil was sold on Iran 's energy bourse for first time on July 22, said Ali Hosseini, managing director of Iran 's energy bourse.

In the first offering, 16,456 metric tons of 380 centistokes fuel oil were sold, Iran 's Fars news agency quoted Hosseini as saying July 22.

Accordingly, 3872 metric tons of fuel oil with the delivery place at the Tabriz Oil Refining Company, 5808 metric tons of fuel oil with the delivery place at the Isfahan Oil Refining Company, 5808 metric tons of fuel oil with the delivery place at the Arak Oil Refining Company, and 968 metric tons of fuel oil with the delivery place at the Shiraz Oil Refining Company were offered to buyers.

Saeed Mahjoobi, an official with the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said in May that Iran has been turned into the world's biggest fuel oil exporter.

With the rise in natural gas production of the South Pars gas field, Iran has been turned into the world's largest fuel oil exporter, he added.

For the time being, some 100 million liters of fuel oil is produced in the country's refineries, he noted.

Exporting fuel oil in large volumes is on the agenda, he said, adding that fuel oil has been replaced with natural gas in many power plants and industrial units in the country.
