Iran discloses stats on health insurance, food security, job-creating projects

Since it came to office two years ago, the President Hassan Rouhani administration has provided health insurance to 10 million people, a recent report by the Iranian Ministry of Cooperative, Labor, and Social Welfare said.

Also, 10 million people got covered by a food security plan, read the announcement which was published by the ministry on August 31 on the occasion of the Government Week.

Regarding health and medicine, over 2,500 new drugs in the country fell under the government's insurance.

A rise in minimum wages and the formation of 2,880 work unions in 15 provinces have been among the accomplishments of the ministry in relation to labor. Furthermore, 800,000 jobs were secured through help extended to collapsing enterprises.

During the period, 430,000 technical and health protection committees were also formed.

The report further says that the Rouhani administration has paid 26.373 trillion rials (each 29,900 rials making 1 USD) to job-creating projects. Unemployment benefits were also given to over 183,000 people.

Workers have found a friendlier atmosphere with Rouhani's administration being in charge, compared to the previous government.
