Iran looks to broaden economic ties with Kazakhstan

Iran and Kazakhstan aim to broaden the economic ties, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, the Islamic Republic's minister of Industries, Mines and Trade said.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Ardalan Idrisov in Tehran Nov. 24, Iranian semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

Nematzadeh expressed hope that a new chapter of mutual cooperation on economy, trade and industry sectors will be opened.

The Iranian minister further referred to expansion of railways, air and shipping lines as well as joint investments in agriculture sector as fields for cooperation.

He also suggested that the merchants, tradesmen and investors from the two countries should be familiarized with the capacities and potential of the other side.

Idrisov in turn said that a joint working-group can be formed to identify the potential for mutual cooperation and investment.

Data released by Iran's Customs Administration shows during last Iranian fiscal year(ended on March 21) Iran exported $205.11 million worth of non-oil goods to Kazakhstan while imported $175.95 million of the same.
