Medical costs to rise 10% in Iran

The cabinet of the Iranian government has passed a regulation to raise medical tariffs by 10 percent.

The increase will be distributed between doctors and medications, cabinet secretary Mohsen Haji Mirzaei told the IRIB May 30.

According to the official, the High Council on Insurance will decide how the rise will be distributed.

Medical services are not free in Iran. However, a number of insurance plans that are given to people based on their occupations and economic status, covering part of the costs.
