Iran’s car output increases by 15%

Some 579,776 cars were produced in Iran in the first six months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21, 2016).

The figure indicates a rise by 15.6 percent as compared to the same months of the preceding year, Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade reported.

Sedans counted for 534,402 of the output with a production growth rate of 16.1, while pickup output grew by 11.5 percent to hit 38,815.

The country’s bus output also increased by 21.2 percent to stand at 435 vehicles.

The Iranian car manufacturers also produced 388 minibus(17.6 percent increase) and 5736 trucks (1.5 percent increase) during the six-month period.

The country’s car output stood at 93,515 during the sixth calendar month(Aug. 21-Sept. 21), indicating a rise by 53.6 percent.

The Iranian car manufacturers produced 85,880 sedans during the one-month period, 56.9 percent more year-on-year.

Also 6,282 pickups(20.9 percent more), 81 minibuses(62 percent increase), 73 buses(32.7 percent more) and 1,199 trucks(39.7 percent increase) were produced in Iran in the sixth Iranian calendar month.

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The Islamic Republic manufactured 884,866 sedans and 97,471 commercial vehicles in 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
