Household expenditure in Iran rises 11.7% YoY

The average urban household expenditure in Iran reached 278 million rials ($9,267 at 30,000 rials per USD) last fiscal year (which ended March 19), showing a rise of 11.7 percent year on year.

This is while an urban household’s income increased by 15.6 percent in average during the said period, the Statistics Center of Iran reported October 9.

Of the total expenditure, 23.8 percent went into food and tobacco, the report said.

The group flour, cereal, noodle, and bread constituted 22 percent of the total expenditure.

In the non-food category, housing was the biggest factor with a share of 44 percent.
