Tehran will host an international conference on renewable energy on 5-8 December, 2016, SHANA news agency reported.
Over 70 European and Asian firms will participate in the conference dubbed “Iran Renewable Energy Commercial Conference.”
The conference will provide an opportunity for international companies active in renewable energy sector to gain an in-depth analysis of the prospects in Iran and learn more about project development and financing in the country.
The Iranian government and policy makers have set an ambitious goal of reaching 5GW of renewable energy production by 2020.
Currently, renewable energy comprises a tiny share of 0.01 percent in the oil-and-gas-rich country’s energy basket.
According to the Renewable Energy Organization of Iran, there are 15 wind farms operational in Iran but there is 100,000 MW of potential capacity from wind alone.
