Iran's gas deliveries to power plants plunge due to soar in house demand

Iran’s gas deliveries to power plants decreased significantly, as the gas demand in the country's housing sector rose three times.

According to official statistics of Iran's Oil Ministry, Iran’s gas usage in housing sector on average stood at 160 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) in spring and summer.

However, the spokesman of National Iranian Gas Company Majid Bujarzadeh said Jan.30 that Iran’s gas deliveries to the housing sector stood at 490 mcm/d on Jan. 29.

He also said that gas deliveries to power plants reached 75 mcm/d.

According to Oil Ministry’s report, the figure for spring and summer was about 202 mcm/d in average.

Bujarzadeh also said that the gas deliveries to industrial sectors reached 82 mcm/d on January 29.

The statistics of Iran's Oil Ministry say the figure for 6 months of spring and summer was 96 mcm/d.

Bujarzadeh didn’t mention the current gas usage in petrochemical plants, but the figure in warm seasons was 49.7 mcm/d, according to an official document, prepared by National Petrochemical Company, seen by Trend.
