There are about one million unsafe commercial buildings in Iran, a trade official said.
Head of Iran Chamber of Guilds (ICG) Ali Fazeli has said that about one third of commercial buildings in the country are in unsafe conditions, Tasnim news agency reported.
According to the official, there are about three million commercial buildings in the country.
Speaking about a recent disastrous incident at a shopping center in downtown Tehran, he called on the officials to inspect and renovate unsafe buildings.
A group of Iranian firefighters were trapped and eventually killed as the Plasco building came down after a huge fire engulfed the top floors of the 17-story building on Jan. 19.
