By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

The Iranian government is going to inaugurate 625 more projects by the end of the current administration in summer, spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said.

Addressing a press conference in Tehran, Nobakht said the projects are expected to give the country a great boost in product and employment, Trend's correspondent reported from the event.

He said the incumbent administration has been focusing on two areas to create a quick-to-achieve economic boost.

One, he said, was to give facilities to private-sector factories whose construction had halted mid-way because of lack of credit or some operational companies that were going bankrupt.

The other approach was to fund half-finished governmental mega projects that had been left down from previous years, the spokesman added.

“To date, facilities have been given to 11,666 production units. The total value of the facilities was 82.82 trillion rials ($2.5 billion, each USD 32,268 rials). Some units also applied for facilities on their own, whose number adds up to 9,478 and received 65.45 trillion rials,” Nobakht said. “Also, 400 trillion rials fund went into unfinished governmental projects.”

Iran's economic growth over the six months to September 20 stood at 7.4%. The figures for spring and summer were 5.4% and 9.2% respectively.

The GDP growth, excluding oil sector, amounted to 0.9%. The figure for Q1 stood at -0.9%, while Q2 growth without oil amounted to 2.6%.
