Tehran, Iran, Feb. 17
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
Iran will be inaugurating three major projects in free economic zones across the country in the coming weeks, according to Akbar Torkan,
coordinating secretary of the Free Economic Zones Organization.
One of the projects is going to be the airport and dock of Hendorabi Island, which will be one of the biggest projects opened by the
incumbent administration, Torkan said, IRNA news agency reported February 17.
Hendurabi or Hendorabi is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf to the west of Kish Island.
The second project, he noted, will be the opening of two posts of the dock at the Caspian Port in the Anzali Free Zone.
Anzali Port is a harbor town on the Caspian Sea, close to Rasht and one of the most important seaports in the north of Iran.
As the third project, an airport is going to be opened in Maku Free Zone, the official further said.
Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone is Iran’s largest and the world’s second largest free trade zone and encompasses an area of 5000 square
km. The free zone has been hindered by unfavorable or complex operating requirements and by international sanctions.
