Tehran, Iran, Feb. 26

Iran is seeking cooperation from international companies to improve its water and wastewater treatment facilities to make them more environment-friendly, Water and Wastewater Engineering Company CEO Hamidreza Janbaz said.
Financing the projects is one of the major problems, where Iran welcomes foreign investors, Janbaz told a group of German businessmen in Tehran, IRNA news agency reported Feb. 26.
He noted that over the past years Iran achieved 95 percent independence in manufacturing pumps, generators, pipes, and other equipment, but said after years of sanctions, the country now needs to tap international-level technology.
Years-long sanctions on Iran ended in January, 2016. Since then many foreign business delegations have visited Iran to take part in the post-sanctions development of the country.
The official said the Iranian government has therefore devised special mechanisms and set conditions to make it more attractive for foreigners to invest in the water and wastewater treatment sector.
