Iran needs 6 private dry ports by 2022

Six dry ports are needed to be built in Iran by 2022, according to the country’s 6th Development Plan, Deputy Minister of Transport Amir Amini said.

He said that four of the dry ports are to correspond to four existing conventional ports of Anzali, Chabahar, Imam Khomeini, and Shahid Rajaei, IRNA news agency reported June 11.

He added Razavi Khorasan, Sistan-Baluchestan, East Azarbaijan, Tehran, Yazd, Esfahan, and Kerman provinces are being considered as locations to build the dry ports.

He noted that over $200 million investment is needed to build the dry ports.

Currently there are three dry ports in Iran. One is called Aprin. To be launched near capital city of Tehran, it has been delayed for over four decades. Another one is located in Yazd and is not fully prepared yet. The third one is to be created within Imam Khomeini Airport City to the south of Tehran.
