An Iranian trade official has said that Tehran and Paris are planning to double the current level of the trade turnover.

Golamhossein Shafei, the chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, has said that the trade between the two countries currently values at $2.4 billion.

He made the remarks during a conference at the premises of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture in Tehran, Trend's correspondent reported from the event.

Golamhossein Shafei further called for removing obstacles to the expansion of ties between the two countries.

The official described banking issues, problems within customs services, transportation issues as well as financial problems as the main obstacles to the expansion of bilateral ties.

The European country ranked as the ninth top exporter to the Islamic Republic over the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 20).
