Iran’s wheat reaches Europe

The head of Government Trading Corporation of Iran, Yazdan Seif, has said that the country has for the first time exported 31,000 tons of durum wheat to Italy.

He added that the country exported 120,000 tons of flour in the first half of the current fiscal year. This is while the country’s total exports of flour over the last year was 27,000, state-owned news channel IRINN reported.

The country, over the first half of the current year, exported 400,000 tons of wheat and flour products, including various types of bread and cookies.

In the meantime, Iran plans to export one million tons of its surplus wheat over the current year.

Seif also said that Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia are in talks to cooperate in exporting wheat. According to the official, the cooperation would boost Iran’s annual exports of wheat to 700,000 tons.

The government has already purchased about 8.8 million tons of wheat from local farmers.
