Iranian raisins reach international markets

Northwestern province of Zanjan saw exports of 1,360 tons of raisins over the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 21).

Abdollah Jafari, a provincial official with the agricultural organization, has said the province’s exports valued $2.2 million, rolling news TV channel IRINN reported.

Saying that Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy are among the main importers of the province’s raisins, the official further forecast that the raisin output of the province will hit 14,000 tons by the year-end.

The province is expected to harvest about 130,000 tons of grapes over the current year.
