Iran’s iron ore concentrate ‎output increases

Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies, affiliated to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), produced about 24.87 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 22).

The figure indicates a 18 percent increase compared to the preceding year IMIDRO said on Dec. 13.

Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. ranked first producing 9.19 million tons, followed by Chadormalou with 5.6 million tons of output.

Markazi (3.3 million tons), Gohar Zamin (2.66 million tons), Middle East Mine Industries Development Holding Company (2.49 million tons), and Sangan (1.43 million tons) were among the other leading iron ore concentrate producers.

The report didn’t include the volume of iron ore produced by private sector companies, which produce a total of 14 million tons of iron ore annually.

The aforementioned companies produced a total of 3.96 million tons of iron ore granule in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (a 2 percent fall year-on-year).

Sangan company was the biggest iron ore granule producer in the period with 1.235 million output, followed by Markazi (1.05 million tons), Central Plateau Iron Ore Mining Complex(619,800 tons), Jalal Abad company(605,600 tons), Chadormalou(245,500 tons) and Mishdavan(199,800 tons).

Also 20.8 million tons of Iron ore pellets were produced in the country in the 8-month period, 26 percent more year-on-year.

Over 12.7 million tons of sponge iron produced by 10 state-run companies, 14 percent more compared to the first eight months of the preceding year.

Iran’s total iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
